Community of Interest Groups

SCONUL is pleased to announce the launch of four new community of interest groups. These groups are open to everyone within our member libraries who want the opportunity to share information, knowledge and challenges, and to support each other and the broader community.

How will the groups work?
There is no limit to the number of people who can participate in each group and their structure and processes will be tailored according to the specific focus and interests of members. It is expected that they will run for at least 18 months in the first instance, with the opportunity to continue beyond that if the members would like it to. SCONUL will provide admin and communications support.

How to sign up:
If you’ve previously expressed interest in joining one of the CIGs, please simply register for a meeting via the relevant CIG webpages below. If you haven’t yet expressed an interest, please drop the office a line at sconul@sconul.ac.uk and you will be added to the relevant Jisc mailing list where the group members can share information. Please also register via the relevant CIG webpages below if you are free to attend the first meeting.

Details of the new CIGs

  • Academic Libraries and learning technologies: for those managing learning technologists and those interested in developing in this area.
  • AI and information literacy: for those leading on the provision of advice to library users of AI tools and techniques.
  • Library analytics: for those with an interest in exploring the use of library data and analytics for service improvement.
  • The Future of the Systems Librarian: for those interested in exploring the role of the systems librarian in supporting the evolving needs of the library and looking at challenges around recruitment and succession planning as the systems themselves continue to evolve.

We anticipate delivering a further CIG on Higher-level apprenticeships  once the development of a Level 7 apprenticeship in the Library and Information sector is further advanced, in 2025.
