How to get ahead in libraries webinar
Welcome to the first in a series of webinars about how to get ahead in libraries, where we’ll be exploring career options for those looking to take their next step on the ladder.
Our first webinar looked at how to get from a subject librarian role into library management and we heard from Alison Harding, Executive Head of Library and Learning Resources from University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Pete Williams, Deputy Librarian at University of London and Lesley English, Head of Academic Engagement & Teaching Services at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Alison covered the evolution of library roles and how to efffectively develop leadership and management skills, as well as the key skills subject librarians have that make them ideal for more senior roles.
Pete talked about how to develop management opportunities in your current job, to get you ready for your next role and prepping for interviews.
Lesley looked at what people management involves and looking for opportunities outside your current role. She was also very honest about the impact of caring responsibilities on your career trajectory.
