SCONUL Spring Conference: The library and digital transformation
We are excited to share details of our speakers for the SCONUL Spring Conference on 3 March at the British Library, including our keynote speaker: Professor Mark Thompson, Professor in Digital Economy, at the University of Exeter, who will present on opportunities for collaboration and shared services in HE.
Other sessions include:
- The library technology landscape which will mark the launch and presentation of the findings from the Technology Survey. We’ll share the overall results, uses of the tool and other interesting findings.
- A panel discussion on Digital Transformation of the Library, where we’ll discuss opportunities and emerging case studies.
- Business intelligence for libraries, with lightning talks from libraries with innovative approaches to using library data / analytics.
- A panel discussion on The Systems Librarian in 2030, including a presentation on outputs from the survey.

- Liam Earney, Managing director HE and research, and executive director of digital resources at Jisc, Fiona Greig, Director of Knowledge & Digital Services at University of Winchester, Mark Hughes, Head of Libraries at Cardiff Metropolitan University and Wendy White, Director Library and Learning Services (University Librarian), University of Southampton, on digital transformation of the library.
- Dominic Dixon, Head of Assessment at University of Cambridge, Michelle Halpin, Digital Services and Content Developer at University of Sunderland and Amy Stubbing, University Librarian, Solent University, on business intelligence for libraries.
- Adnan Adil, Systems, Subscriptions and Licensing Manager at London South Bank University, Caroline Cooke, Deputy Director, Library Services at Royal Holloway, University of London, Georgina Dimmock, Head of Academic Services at University of Northampton and Sue Egleton, University Librarian at University of Reading, on the systems librarian in 2030.
The conference will be held at The British Library, Knowledge Centre, 96 Euston Road, London, NW1 2DB on the 3rd of march 2025 from 10am to 4.30pm, with registrations opening at 9.30am. Tickets are £155pp. For registration details please email sconul@sconul.ac.uk.
