Advocacy and Service Development Task and Finish Group

SCONUL’s Advocacy and Service Development Task and Finish Group is there to support members to be effective advocates for the development of their services and to provide support for those leading libraries in managing and communicating change. We aim to raise levels of confidence and expertise across the sector in advocating effectively for their services and libraries in general.

It reflects the priorities of our members in their drive to ensure the contribution and value of their library is well understood within their own institution and beyond, and our collective mission to ensure the value of academic and research libraries to the sector is widely appreciated. It takes forward the work of the Advocacy and Service Development project group.

The group will focus on sharing information about techniques and approaches to advocacy, including developing tools and guidance for members and creating opportunities for information exchange.  The group will be responsive to members’ developing needs in this space

Financial pressures on member libraries have resulted in changes to the structure and nature of library services and teams over the last few years. The group will also identify and share information on creative approaches developed in response to their challenges.

It has recently published a set of advocacy case studies which are available here.
